Margaret Oakley began Dinner Table Gardening to help regenerate the land in and around Los Angeles. Margaret graduated from UCLA and worked in the Water Program of the Natural Resources Defense Council, a national environmental non-profit, before launching her ecological garden design business. Margaret creates sustainable gardens on a variety of scales to fit people’s unique desires and resource constraints: a front lawn transforms into an edible garden with winding pathways, a backyard becomes a native plant haven for local wildlife, or containers on an apartment patio provide herbs to spice up dinner. Margaret became interested in edible gardening because of the implications for water conservation and better land use, and to grow the things we like to eat. She fell in love with California native plants by spending time in the mountains. She derives much of her inspiration from nature.
